Deskmate
She left shanghai, the city she was born, travelled through thousands of miles to Beijing, in order to become his deskmate. They had been sitting together for 6 years from junior to senior high school.
She was weak and afraid of cold, her hands and feet were frozen in the coldest days of a year, he would give her a hot-water-bag whenever she was cold. His heart was sweet as pomelo when she looked back at him with a smile.
They made a promise to each other, they would apply to a same college, she would be his deskmate as ever.
But then, while they were working hard for their dream together, she was ill all of a sudden, chronic osteomyelitis, she had to go back Shanghai to accept an operation. He received her message when he had made decision to give up college entrance exam, “I am content with the six years of being your deskmate, I believe I will see you in shanghai eventually!”
He had his dream fulfilled, Shanghai JaoTong University accepted him. When he was going to tell her this good news, she disappeared, he lost her connection and couldn’t find her anywhere.
He hoped to hear from her once again, but there was no sign of her everywhere since then. His career was in the ascendant, he married a virtuous woman and they had a lovely daughter.
When She gradually faded from his memory, he saw her picture and her article on a handicapped website, “my deskmate, please forgive me, forgive that I couldn’t accompany with you, though God took my legs, I am still willing to send you my faithful love.
So she choosing to leave him silently was because she didn’t want to become his burden… Tears stream down his face… there is a kind of love, named “apart”, it can only silently look each other into distance, but can not stay together.
I will be grateful if anyone points out my mistakes in writing ^_^
